Excellent article - not only did the original “story” contain many inaccuracies as you point out, those inaccuracies were used to justify bullying, censorship, and persecution of Goth and otherwise-dark outcasts at public schools for *years.*

Caitlyn Doughty has a great video that points out one other little detail that has gotten lost over the years: it was originally planned as a *bombing,* not a mass shooting. It’s only because they f-ed up the bombs that they resorted to using guns instead.

And btw, I’m glad to see you haven’t fallen for the commonly believed idea that this was the “first” school shooting. It was indeed the deadliest (at the time) but it wasn’t, unfortunately, the first.
