Good article! I'm glad you finally saw what was in your blind spot all along - the mental work you were foisting off onto your wife.
I think a lot of men have this blind spot because they have been raised by mothers who just do everything for them, who never teach them the fundamental skills of adulthood. But particularly with meal planning, that's a whole other level of privilege. Because if you're living paycheck to paycheck, you HAVE to plan your meals. If you blow your last $25 on pizza because you couldn't be bothered to plan your meals, you have nothing left until the next payday. People literally go hungry because they don't have enough food to last through to the next payday. Not having to worry about meal planning is both a gender and a class privilege.
