Great article! Thank you for sharing this .Though I’m white, I do try to be aware of this dynamic and to work to change it. I recently was with a supposedly progressive non-profit with pretty much the exact same dynamic. Leadership was keen to have us all attend “racial bias training” and they did welcome a couple POCs into their board — but just as you point out, their suggestions were always put down, their perspectives ignored. They both stepped down after only a short time, leaving the board just as white as it had been previously. Once my time was up with them I couldn’t get out of there fast enough!
