I applaud you for being flexible and willing to take on what needs to be done while your wife works. The thing about women not ever having a career and aren’t capable of doing “man stuff” — well, that was the past. Girls were often discouraged, shamed for, and yes forbidden to do those “manly things” back in the day. So you can’t really fault someone for not picking up a skill they were forbidden or strongly discouraged from learning. But on that same topic, there actually were lots of women who worked back in the day — poor women, women whose husbands abandoned them, women of color, widows without enough support. So it was also held up as a privilege, that a woman “didn’t have to” work, unlike those poor unfortunate others.
