I guess this is one benefit of being a cynical old Gen X’er. It takes me about .002 seconds to spot the carefully curated, filtered, staged social media posts. And about that same amount of time to unfollow them. I have no tolerance for fakeness. I have even lost a few friends to it because I refused to be a supporting cast member in the constant stage-production they perform for social media (especially IG).

This is just my curmudgeonly opinion here, but it seems like this obsession with creating these perfectly staged images for social media is eclipsing actually living your actual life. No wonder it has negative effects on your mental health!

I say this with all the love of an older auntie: get out! Get out now!
