I mean, I don’t want to sound like a troll, but what you’re describing here isn’t gaslighting. It’s passive-aggressive shaming, fat-shaming, back-handed compliments, and just garden-variety pettiness. Gaslighting is when someone attempts to convince you that something you know, think, or feel is wrong. Like if you were to touch a stove and say, “that’s hot,” and then some ass has to come along and tell you it’s really not hot, maybe just a little warm, but you’re just oversensitive. A subtle difference, I guess. It’s just sad there are so many different ways people can be assholes.
