I’ve never understood the fascination with celebrity. Most of them are just actors, athletes, or musicians — not superheroes. If someone has something interesting to say, I’ll follow them (I love me some @StephenKing ), but the kind of adulation for simply being rich doesn’t do it for me. Most rich people either inherited a fortune — in which case, why should I care about them? or they made their fortune, most likely, by exploiting someone, somewhere. And in that case, I definitely don’t want to hear from them.

“Following” celebrities is just one way capitalism keeps working people disempowered, hanging on to the lie that someday they, too, will be rich! Yeah, miss me with that.
