Thanks for this in-depth look at Substack. I've been publishing weekly (with the occasional second story per week) here on Medium for three years. For the first year or so, my following and my earnings climbed steadily.

But last summer (2020), Medium changed something, and my earnings tanked - while my following continued to climb! They have tried a couple of new "patches" to their earning program, neither of which has brought my earnings anywhere close to what they were before they crashed.

As of right now, I have ~18K followers here. But my earnings are half what they were a year and a half ago - when I had far fewer followers. It's really discouraging, so I'm looking for other options. Substack looks like a possibility, if it would be possible to get enough of my followers to "follow" me over there. I'd love any feedback on this!
