That was my thought too. I saw an interview with, I believe, one of the prosecutors, and he kept emphasizing how her delusions were inseparable from the church’s teachings. So she could have been sending out big red flags, but her church and family just thought she was really “devout.”

But that’s just speculation. She also admitted to keeping her delusions very secret, so who knows?
