That’s what I think, too. I will never understand that level of co-dependency (or jealousy, or need for control, or *whatever* it is). When my son was little, he was 100% my highest priority, no matter what. Any man who didn’t treat him right would be out the door. But I have known (and heard of) a LOT of people, who, as kids, were abused in various ways by step-dads, and their moms would just let it happen. I just cannot fathom that.
